SUPER SAD CELEBRATION

Where else in the developed world does a happy celebration turn into an opportunity for yet another shooting annihilation?

What are we teaching our children? The Kansas City Super Bowl Parade was intended to be a joyful event, but instead, the shooting took place on the sixth anniversary of the Parkland shooting. And on the sixteenth anniversary of the Northern Illinois University shooting. And two days ago was the anniversary of the Michigan State shooting. And next week will be twelve years since Alabama-Huntsville two years since Portland and seventeen since Bethel Alaska and this must stop.

What’s going on here folks? The United States has seen 44 mass shootings in the first six weeks of this year, but it was the fewest since 2020, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive—though deaths in mass shootings have remained fairly high.

According to published reports, 75 people have been killed and 140 have been injured in the 44 mass shootings from Jan. 1 to Feb. 12, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which considers a mass shooting an incident in which at least four people, not including the shooter, are injured or killed.

There were 68 mass shootings in the first six weeks of last year and 48 in both 2022 and 2021, according to the data.

Pre-pandemic 2019 and 2020, however, saw fewer mass shootings in their first six weeks than this year, with 34 and 31, respectively.

At least 1 killed, more than 20 injured in shooting at Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rally

At least three people are in critical condition after shots were fired near Union Station at the end of the parade, officials said.
