THE COMEBACK OF NOTRE DAME

Our Lady of Paris aka Notre-Dame, is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité an island in the River Seine Paris.

The cathedral, dedicated in honour of the Virgin Mary (Our Lady), is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Several attributes set it apart from the earlier Romanesque style, including its pioneering use of the rib vault and flying buttress, its enormous and colourful rose windows, and the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration. Notre-Dame is also exceptional for its three pipe organs (one historic) and its immense church bells. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/12/07/notre-dame-cathedral-re…

The rebirth of Notre Dame Cathedral. Just five years after a devastating fire tore through historic Notre Dame in Paris, the Gothic cathedral's extraordinary restoration is being unveiled.

CBS News Correspondent Seth Doane takes us inside the 12th century landmark, where 21st century tools, such as drones and computer animations, were as important a part of the restoration process as the artisans who toiled to bring Notre Dame back to life.
