Valentine was a priest who continued to witness and bless Christian marriages at a time when it was forbidden. He believed love was worth defending, marriage was worth protecting, and he ultimately gave his life for that conviction. True love isn’t just a feeling. It’s a choice, faithful and brave. On this Valentine’s Day, let’s thank God for the gift of love, in marriage, in friendship, in family life, and ask for the grace to love with strength and self-gift, not just sentiment. May St. Valentine, pray for all of us.

San Valentín fue un sacerdote que continuó presenciando y bendiciendo matrimonios cristianos en una época en la que estaba prohibido. Creía que el amor valía la pena defenderlo, que el matrimonio valía la pena protegerlo, y finalmente dio su vida por esa convicción. El amor verdadero no es solo un sentimiento. Es una elección fiel y valiente. En este Día de San Valentín, agradezcamos a Dios por el don del amor en el matrimonio, en la amistad, en la vida familiar, y pidamos la gracia de amar con fuerza y entrega, no solo con sentimiento. Que San Valentín ruegue por todos nosotros.
