VETERANS DAY

Submitted by ub on

Veterans Day is a meaningful observance that honors the service and sacrifice of all of our military veterans who served in uniform.

The connection to the end of World War I is particularly poignant in that on a specific moment at 11:00 AM on November 11, 1918, when the armistice took effect, it beceme symbolically important.

The holiday was originally called Armistice Day and was specifically meant to honor World War I veterans, but in 1954 it was renamed Veterans Day to honor all American veterans who have served in any war or peacetime.

Since today is November 11, 2025, Veterans Day is being observed across the country. Many communities hold ceremonies, parades, and moments of silence at 11:00 AM to mark the original armistice. It's also a time when many businesses offer special recognitions or services for veterans.
