Andy The Singer

Submitted by ub on

I live in The Bronx, which has a majority Latino population. As World Cup fever increases, I hear many radios and TV sets carrying the games in Spanish. These sounds remind me of the days I served as executive producer with Univision Television Network.

One day, when our regularly scheduled sports anchor called in sick, I ordered Argentine singing Andy Andrés Cantor, who was our fabulous sports producer to get on the set and read the script he had just completed. I told him if you wrote it, and produced it, who better than you to deliver it to our massive Spanish-language international sports fanatics?

Andrés Cantor is a name which is loosely translated in English to Andy the singer. He did not appreciate my order, but an excellent newscast director named Kathy Perez strongly persuaded him to do it because he was very nervous. And the rest is Herstory.

#AndrésCantor @AndresCantorGOL is now a Superstar sportscaster and pundit who is best known for providing Spanish-language commentary and analysis in soccer, or as many prefer to call it Futbol. http://www.fdpradio.com/
