Orchard Beach Pavilion
Past, Present, and Future
Thursday, February 9Orchard Beach Pavilion
7:30 p.m.
Join us for MoMA Curator Emerita Deborah Wye's fascinating presentation on the grand bathhouse pavilion at Orchard Beach. This landmark structure, highly recognized for its Modern Classical style and Art Deco details, is unfortunately in deteriorating condition. Ms. Wye will trace its beginnings in the 1930s as part of the vision of Parks Commissioner Robert Moses and Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia for a recreational complex along the shore in Pelham Bay Park. She will also explore the pavilion's current state and possible plans for its future use.
