The Black Whale

Submitted by ub on

This is City Island's oldest restaurant. When they re-opened The Black Whale on City Island in 1998, the goal was to continue the tradition of the infamous Black Whale of the 60s and 70s while updating the restaurant to serve today's needs.

The atmosphere remains casual and romantic; the homemade desserts are always decadent; and the outdoor patio, brick-paved and decorated with beautiful fountains, is still a comfortable, serene get-away. This small restaurant has an outdoor dining area and is a local favorite. In fact, New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg made it one of his destinations this past week.
