The USA Needs Border Parole

Submitted by ub on

The USA border has always attracted folks like me from all over the world. Immigration is a worldwide dilemma where everyone on earth apparently wants to come to America.

As the youngest sibling of a professional Cuban-American couple, I always felt most likely to succeed as well as to exceed.  “there’s no way I can single-handedly save the world or, perhaps, even make a perceptible difference - but how ashamed I would be to let a day pass without making one more effort.” - Isaac Asimov

Don’t get me wrong I’ve had stiff competition because my two older brothers became successful professionals. My older brother was an attorney, and the middle one became a psychologist. My mother and father brought us to America after Castro’s Cuban revolution nationalized the banks, where my dad was president, although he studied and received degrees in architecture and law. My mom became a schoolteacher after receiving her education degrees. We were extremely lucky to gain five tickets to Paradise. But I digress.

Since border parole is available to citizens of Canada or Mexico, or to individuals who are nationals of third countries but are already physically present in Canada or Mexico. Other individuals typically would not be permitted to board a plane without a visa in order to arrive at a port of entry to lodge a port parole request. US officials have reportedly released some migrant families without giving them notice to appear in court at a later date.

Statistics indicate that whenever possible people are leaving Russia, China, as well as many other nations to come to the land of freedom and opportunity where anyone who is willing to work has a much better chance to make it here.

The big lie is what our enemies are telling everyone who will listen to their ridiculous stories. No one is trying to steal this nation from anyone. The United States of America belongs to everyone who is willing to enter, assimilate, cooperate by paying their fair share of taxes and obeying the law.

The Statue of Liberty is an icon, a national treasure, and one of the most recognizable figures in the world. Each year millions who cherish her ideals make the journey to experience her grandeur and welcome with open arms. She is the symbol of freedom, inspiration, and hope for everyone.

In America, the one single attraction that has always made our nation the greatest on earth is the increasingly multicultural, racial, and ethnic diversity.

God shed his grace on the. Crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea. There are people from all over the world who know what that really means much more than most of us do. They have it as part of a dream that one day they too will have a shot at what most Americans take for granted.

For some of us, the American way of life is often translated into how often we have to dig into our pockets, or how much we can get away with at work, school, or at home or just not having to pay taxes, while some seem to always be looking up to us while other criticize America as a nation of inflation, recession, unemployment, promiscuous sex, drugs alcohol, and endless celebrations.

To think that while we live with all of this, there are millions of people all over the world who would trade places with us in a minute, and if we’re not willing to trade they would be happy to move in right alongside us.

Years ago it was other refugees who came to this country by the millions and they are always willing to risk everything they have to get here. They are all types of people, mechanics, teachers, factory workers, laborers, doctors, lawyers, and yes a small number are here for the wrong reasons but a tiny percentage.

Most are searching for the American dream that brings them here. To some of us in the United States, they are the tired the poor huddled masses yearning to be free. It doesn’t seem they want what we have as much as a chance to have as much or to be what we say we are.

It’s not so likely they’ll take jobs away from Americans but will take the jobs Americans don’t want to do. We worry about keeping our standard of living, while they worry about survival. They are willing to suffer what most of us view as inequities to prove that we have the best way of life in the entire world whether or not we appreciate it. And if they wish to find it should we stand in their way?
