Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and Mercy College in conjunction with Bronx-based Harry S. Truman High School are pleased to announce the launch of The Bronx Achievement Pact, an innovative new educational initiative that aims to raise high school graduation rates, enhance college readiness and maximize college enrollment.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., Mercy College President Dr. Kimberly Cline, and Truman High School Principal Sana Nasser will present the details of the initiative at a press conference at Truman High School, 750 Baychester Avenue, Bronx, New York on Wednesday, April 4th at 11:30 am.
The Bronx Achievement Pact will partner with Truman High School to pilot the program in September 2012, with the goal of expanding programming to high schools throughout the Bronx. By increasing student opportunities within public high schools, the Bronx Achievement Pact is a scalable solution that can help solve the national educational crisis.
Highlights of the initiative include the opportunity for students to earn extensive college credit while still in high school with the option of earning an Associate’s degree before they begin their freshman year of college. This comprehensive program also provides tutoring by college students, exposure to the college process, parent workshops, and more.
