BRONX BIRTHDAY

Submitted by ub on

Today is The Bronx 100th anniversary... Happy New Year, and Happy 100th Birthday. Back In 1914, The Bronx became a NY county, being officially separating from New York County.

The Bronx gained its legal identity when it became a borough of Greater New York in 1898. Bronx County, with the same boundaries as the borough, was separated from New York County after that time, coextensive with the Borough of Manhattan officially on January 1, 1914.

City Island Images celebrate this day by inviting our readers to visit one of many seafood restaurants and City Island's shopping district City Island Avenue. The seaport of The Bronx is reminiscent of a small New England town. It is connected to Rodman's Neck on the mainland by the City Island Bridge.

The Bronx is the only NYC Borough that is attached to the US mainland.
You got a problem with that?
