The Bronx Chamber of Commerce, an entity is celebrating its 118th birthday and was founded in 1894, along with its 600 members is delighted to hear that Fresh Direct has chosen The Bronx as the site of their new distribution home. The move, which will transfer almost two thousand jobs, 30% of which are currently Bronxites, and will create an additional 1,000 in the next five years, will provide sorely needed jobs in the borough with the highest concentration of unemployment in the State of New York.
“Fresh Direct’s move will also provide additional opportunities for the members of my Chamber to interface with another growing Bronx entity that is in need of their products and services”, said Lenny Caro, President of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce. “We encourage the City of New York to move forward with their support and welcome Fresh Direct to the Bronx”, he concluded.
Our 600 members are looking forward to their arrival. Fresh Direct will be a positive influence in our continuing work towards developing the economic potential of our wonderful Borough. We strongly urge the City of New York’s Economic Development Corporation to approve their support to this project and thank Governor Cuomo, Mayor Bloomberg, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the BOEDC for making this project a reality.
