Gunshots have been fired outside the US Capitol building following a car chase across central Washington DC, where several people have been reported hurt.
According to officials, a female suspect was killed by police at the scene.
This shooting at our nation's capital occurs just several weeks after 12 people were killed and three injured in a shooting spree by a government technology contractor. That shooting occurred at the U.S. Navy Yard, approximately 1 mile from the Capitol.
The U.S. House of Representatives is in session while U.S. government is partially shut down this week because lawmakers failed to agree on a budget.
