Dozens of area wide participants enjoyed the wonderful weather as they turned out for today's interdenominational blessing of the fleet, which has been taking place from the dock of Fenton's Marina for over 22 years.
This year's event attracted clam diggers, mussel suckers and visitors from near and far. They were all there to support the City Island Power Squadron, the Leonard Hawkins American Legion Post #156, along with our local clergy members, who were kind enough to bless a grand total of 98 vessels, raging from jet skis to sail boats, from yachts to kayaks. They began assembling at The City Island Harbor, near the ferry dock on Hart Island around high noon and sailed by as they were saluted and blessed.
Today was the first time one year old Tessa Barron came out with her mom and dad, but she seemed to be enjoying her snacks and my I-pad as much as the scenic beauty of this popular City Island event.
We wish to thank all the participants who showed their support and especially to the event organizer, Dennis Gromley and host with the most, Marina owner Robert Fenton, who were gracious enough to pose for City Island Images.
