A winter blizzard packing hurricane-force winds pummeled the northeast, including City Island on Saturday. The NE storm left at least 4 dead and around 600,000 customers without power and caused the disruption of thousands scheduled flights.
Blizzard warnings were in effect for the northeastern coast, including the New York City and the entire metropolitan area, the National Weather Service said.
Although utility companies reported over half a million customers were left without power across Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut as the wet, heavy snow brought down trees and lines, the small nautical community was spared.
88 year old Sgt. Russel Schaller, who serves as the President of City Island's Historical Society told City Island Images the blizzard was not a big deal, "It wasn't bad, it just just a storm".
