The weather held up long enough to allow the different religious representatives from several of City Island's congregations to gather at one of our local marinas. They assembled there for the annual blessing of the fleet, along with officials from The City Island Power Squadron and members of the American Legion Hall, located at 550 City Island Avenue.

The annual even, which was sponsored by the City Island Power Squadron and the Leonard Hawkins American Legion Post #156, was a Multi-denominational ceremony, which once again took place from the dock at Fenton Marina, located on City Island Harbor. A parade of boats assembled near the Hart Island Ferry Dock and were blessed by members of our local clergy

Overlooking our scenic harbor, this annual festival celebrates the historical City Island boating industry with the ceremonial blessing of the fleet, food and beverage for all, as well as a host of other informational activities. The Blessing of the Fleet has evolved into one of the most highly anticipated events of the year for City Island boat owners.

The City Island Sail and Power Squadron is a full-fledged member of the United States Power Squadrons belonging to District 4. As such, they are dedicated to promoting high standards of navigation and seamanship, maintaining boats and operating them legally, rendering assistance to others whenever possible and serving in a manner that will add prestige, honor, and respect to the United States Power Squadrons.
