Given the unpredictability of life, some would think twice before taking their beloved classic vehicle to a caravan, or antique car show because it is always a risk. First there are all those people wandering around with their kids, drinks, food and such. There's also a chance of a scratch, or a smudge. Or even the possibility of a dent if you're really unlucky. But the folks who participated today were as lucky as they could be. The weather was also pleasant.
If you happen to be an antique automobile fanatic, or a classic car collector, Bartow Pell Mansion was the place to be this afternoon. BPMM organized a benefit rally to showcase these vehicles and generated funds for this marvelous museum.
The procession traveled through Pelham and ended up at the mansion. Afterwards, many enjoyed a guided tour of the museum, wandered the gardens and were marveled by the work done by the Sierra Club this past week.
The old car caravan gathered at Timpson Street in Pelham Manor and paraded along the Esplanade, down Wolfs Lane into Pelham Village, along First Avenue to Pelhamdale Avenue and east to Shore Road in the Bronx, winding up at the museum.
