DAD DAY

Submitted by ub on

Almost any man alive has had an opportunity to be a biological father, but not everyone can become a truly dedicated DaD.

Mine was a great dad who sacrificed all for our family. When we arrived during the sixties, penniless, both my parents found jobs and went to work until they had saved enough to buy a house.  My two brothers a I went on to earn advanced degrees and become contributing members of society and live the American dream

My Television fathers were Walter Cronkite and Ricky Ricardo, also known by his Real Name, Desi Arnaz. During the 1960s, when Lucie Arnaz was eight and her brother, Desi Jr., was seven, America's most famous couple announced the end of their show, and their marriage. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/desi-arnaz-singer-husband-dad-and-the-man-who-invented-tv/#

Cronkite earned the nickname ``the most trusted man in America'' due to his integrity and commitment to journalistic standards. His calm demeanor and authoritative delivery made viewers feel secure in the information he provided, especially during tumultuous times. On March 6, 1981, that news anchor Walter Cronkite signed off “The CBS Evening News” for the final time, stating his tag line, “That’s the way it is.” The phrase was more than just a signature ending of his nightly newscast. It was a statement that his newscast was designed to, as he put it, “hold up the mirror — to tell and show the public what has happened.”

Another point of view is as an abandoned Father’s Day.  I guess it all depends on semantics, for only the ones who can see this through. The more I considered your greeting, the more I realized I replied inaccurately. I wasn't paying attention, just a standard reply. For me personally, there is no Father's Day. I no longer consider myself a father. When anyone asks if I have kids, I reply no. The two from Treva abandoned me nearly 35 years ago without any contact at all. The one with Valerie did the same 15 years ago. As far as I'm concerned, the day should be called Ungrateful Kids Day. Not to bring you down, cause I know you have two who are successful and constantly in touch with you. Just explaining my situation.
