Digital 2020 Democracy

It becomes increasingly difficult to fact check anyone who habitually lies and can't be trusted with anything they, write say, or do. Therefore, Twitter has decided it will no longer allow any posting of unsubstantiated information without any context.

However, a Twitter 'fact-checking' policy of POTUS statements must be across the board in an objective, fair, accurate, and evidence-based approach, as well as all social media platforms. The USA is approaching the most important election in the history of democracy,

When Trump tried to link mail-in voting with widespread cheating, Twitter tacked on links to trusted sites to get the real facts.

The President of the United States is not happy with a private platform, which he has manipulated in the past is now pointing out his lies. However, another social media platform has so far taken no responsibility.

Twitter is prompting readers to check the facts sent by @POTUS @GOP @realDonaldTrump by warning that #Trump claims about mail-in ballots are false and have been debunked by fact-checkers. @Twitter fact-checks

Here’s the thing. First, “freedom of speech” in the constitutional sense protects Americans from government censorship, not from a private company. Second, Twitter isn’t even infringing on Trump’s speech; it’s leaving false tweets intact while simply placing tepid warning labels under them. Third, Trump is making a threat against Twitter that he can’t enforce which means Twitter should also be fact-checking these.
