Literally millions of US families are facing the same decision as students are preparing to go to college this coming fall. And there are many considerations and financial factors which go into choosing where to go to school. The continually rising cost of a higher education and the increasing and sometimes crushing debt that too many students decide to take on to get their advanced degree.

A new executive order requires colleges to provide more information about their student outcomes and financial aid, to create a centralized complaint system and directs the US Veterans Administration to trademark the term “G.I. Bill”, so it will make it more difficult for some institutions to create Web sites resembling official government sites, or to falsely suggest that they offer special access to veterans’ benefits.

In the past, many military families and veterans have fallen prey to aggressive and deceptive recruiting by higher education institutions — especially for-profit colleges — seeking benefits for the US Government.
