Elephant Hunting

I have no political affiliation, but I do like elephants. Elephants are categorized as the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant.

Female elephants live in tight-knit matrilineal family groups, some of which are made up of more than ten members, including three pairs of mothers with offspring, and are led by the matriarch which is often the eldest female. As a male elephant matures, he spends more time at the edge of his group and associates with outside males and other families. Are you beginning to get the picture and visualize this image?

Another battle may be brewing over the logo of the Republican Party as it looks toward a 2018 election in which many seats will be up for grabs.

The President, who is the leader of the GOP, which uses the elephant as its logo has made a symbolic decision which may speak volumes and say loads about hunting the endangered species.

A federal notice regarding the move to permit big-game hunters to import elephant trophies is being posted in the Federal Register. The White House reversed an Obama-era ban on importing parts of killed elephants killed in Africa.

Though elephants are listed as endangered, a provision of the Endangered Species Act allows the government to give permits to import such trophies if there is evidence that the hunting benefits conservation for that species.

There appears to be no word from Republican Party leaders yet, but animal-protectors criticized the decision as a "venal and nefarious pay-to-slay arrangement" that lets hunters pay considerable large fees for the right to hunt these animals.
