Before entering into academia I served as a news writer, editor and producer for NBC for nearly nine years, working for top-rated and award winning broadcasts such as NBC News Overnight, Today and NBC Nightly News.
I then took on the role of executive producer at Spanish International Network, which now has the largest audience of Spanish-language television viewers in the world. In my tenure there, I oversaw the development of the Univision brand into a network news, sports and public affairs programming powerhouse.
I later moved to City Island to take on the role of founding station manager at Cablevision of NYC. There I launched this company's first 24-hour cable news-channel in NYC, News 12, The Bronx.
I was then recruited to serve as New York City, APTN Bureau Chief and Director of Network News Broadcast Operations for The Associated Press, the world’s largest and most respected news agency. Several years later, AP offered me a buy-out, with early retirement and a pension from my direct, day to day news-gathering and broadcast services management. I left the newsroom and decided to move on to academia.
I then entered the classroom to concentrate on teaching media arts, journalism and mass communication, as well providing private media consulting services with Imaginus Media.
I have taught courses at California State University, NYIT, Iona College, CNR, Albany State University, LIU, Touro College, FDU and Trine University.
I have also listed as 100 Influential Hispanics, served as a member of the California State University Presidential Advisory Committee and as a juror for the International Emmy Awards.
As executive editor and publisher of City Island Images for the past two years, we have managed to consistently offer our readers daily news and information updates, Tweets, as well as live video on the Internet.
All of this has been accomplished free of charge and without selling subscriptions or advertising space. None of this could have been accomplished without the kind generosity from our many thousands of monthly visitors and daily viewers.
Thank you for your personal time and for your ever growing support.
