FLAGS

The Cuban flag was flown back in 1849 by its Venezuelan born designer Narciso López .

He was an adventurer and Spanish Army general who is best known for his expeditions aimed at liberating Cuba from Spanish rule in the 1850s. His troops carried a flag that López held, which later became the flag of Cuba

The three blue bands represent the three military districts of colonial Cuba central, occidental, and oriental. The two white stripes describe the purity of the independence ideal.

Years later the flag of Puerto Rico appeared with a reverse color scheme.
