OK- It's now time to get back into the swing of things, so let's take a cue from The Beatles.
January of 1969, The Beatles were a mess. The recording of an album tentatively titled ‘Get Back' was meant to be returning ‘back to basics' revisiting to their roots, but problems among The Beatles escalated and culminated in the great George Harrison's walking out on the band.
After letting feelings calm down a bit, they decided to get back together again at their Apple Records headquarters in London. On the afternoon of January 30th, 1969, The Beatles walked up to their roof, with a 42-minute gig that brought central London nearly to a standstill.
With keyboard player Billy Preston joining along, the Beatles played one brilliant "Last Concert" that re-energized them through the rest of the year. Featuring now-classic songs such as "Get Back" and "Don't Let Me Down", these music videos are a wonderful look at the last live performance of the best rock band of The 20th Century.
As the Beatles did, when it's time to get yourself re-energized and re-enthused, it's a great idea to break with the past and throw yourself into the future. With summer of 2011 almost behind us, and Labor Day here, what could you possibly do to get re-energized in your job search? Get out of the house, go for a run, or a bike ride and cast your fate to the wind, or shake your head in the breeze, grow a groovy beard, but make sure you change your routine. It will give you a fresh perspective and a new outlook.
Finally, make sure you are as polite as John Lennon was when he told their audience "I'd like to say 'Thank you' on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition."
