Good Friday and Passover

Today, Christians and Jews observe the beginning of two separate religious holidays.

Good Friday, the Christian holiday that remembers the date of Jesus Christ's crucifixion and ending on Easter Sunday. It is also the beginning of Passover, which is a nearly week-long commemoration of the Jews liberation from slavery.

Christians around the world observe Good Friday on the Friday before Easter Sunday. It commemorates Jesus Christ's passion, crucifixion and death, which is told in the Bible.

Many observe the day with fasting and church services. It is not a federal holiday, however many state and local offices are closed.
