In North Carolina and at the end, after everything was said and done, wasn’t the Republicans who were left holding the smoking gun?
The GOP has claimed that our democracy is menaced by election fraud. It has been their excuse for voter suppression tactics, their rationalization for election defeats, and a central element of a Big Conspiracy Theory alleging that Democrats want open borders so they can drown good white taxpaying citizens in a sea of illegal voting by immigrants and other minorities seeking to give themselves welfare benefits.
Their anti-voter fraud movement is based on dishonesty and bad faith. It’s voter suppression and political power which rests on convincing people that their bad faith claims are valid. The North Carolina case provides a good illustration for finger-pointing.
