GOP Misfits

POTUS is a nationalist and keeps calling for the jailing of political opponents, attacking the press and cozying up to dictators, while GOP Congressional leaders are saying and doing nothing about it..

USA stakes in this elections couldn't be higher for our fragile Democracy. Meanwhile, facts and figures paint a clear but alarming picture: GOP = 1 Percent while The Democrats = 99% You may recall the Republican-controlled Congress gave a whopping tax break to the 1%, which failed to pay for itself as repeatedly promised.

Meanwhile, the US Voting Rights Act increases the number and effectiveness of American minority voters and this group overwhelmingly supports Democrats.

As a former Republican Party manager, it troubles me to say that many Republicans fear POTUS is destroying any chance for growth it once had and leaving the GOP to wither on a Trump vineyard. The opportunity to drink from the cup of human kindness is disappearing and the moment of truth will be clear after the midterm elections. Looking ahead, we’re witnessing the end of something much more than the American electorate realizes.

The beginning of the modern Republican Party could have been Herbert Hoover’s shifting campaign rhetoric 90 years ago in 1928 when he talked about the virtues of the American home and family over hard-tack economics. Hoover’s oratory about the progress of the individual being threatened by an overzealous government bureaucracy stuck around for the next eight decades, and the wisdom of generations helped us determine this was the start of a new Republican Party.

The end of the GOP may be around the corner because Republicans appear to be in serious trouble after supporting one single candidate, who wound up hiring the keystone cops to patrol his political landscape. Rich donors seethe as Republican’s tax cuts become even more unpopular by the hour.

Trump served to compound the long-term demographic and ideological problems the Republican Party has long known it faces. Over the past few decades, the GOP has remained largely white, less educated and older while the numbers of minorities in the #USA soared, college attainment rose and the millennial generation came of age politically.

Alienating the nation’s growing ranks of minorities is unwise on the sheer face of the numbers, and bad reputations stick around for years; like sports teams and baldness, our political beliefs are passed down through generations and familial connections.

A GOP’s engagement with modern America and how to best project those values into a nation of 320+ million people became dysfunctional. As our nation has diversified, the grand old party has grayed, and become an unbending oak of ideological purity.

POTUS knows he’s lying. Congress knows he’s lying. The press knows he’s lying. So why does he keep doing it? Tump will say and do anything. And that’s the scary part.

Donald Trump crushed his GOP opponents in one of the most appalling, vicious campaigns ever. The final curtain is the entire Republican Party as the GOP now finds a demographic and cultural divergence from the majority of the country. Most recently, it has become a party of breathtaking whiteness. Is the party of POTUS on a Titanic cruise? Is it time to say RIP to The GOP?
