GOP Without a Paddle

The phrase came from England's Haslar Creek in Portsmouth harbor a 'salt' creek. Nowadays it applies to the Potomac River and the swamp on Capitol Hill. It is also the origin of 'up shit creek'. Without a paddle this would be hopeless, hence the phrase 'up the creek without a paddle' to mean being trapped, stuck or in trouble.

The Republican Party is in a state of confusion and deep discontent due to the fact that even with the majority in the White House, and Congress and the majority governors sitting at state capitols, the party has failed American voters. Repealing Obamacare has failed in embarrassing fashion. And the current debate over a tax overhaul package has to be completed before a looming government shutdown, or there will be a sweeping loss for the GOP.

The GOP also knows the meaning of You've made your bed, now lie in it... and the lies just keep on coming.
