Serious preparations are underway up and down the eastern seaboard as Hurricane Sandy threatens to bring Superstorm weather conditions to approximately 60 million people.

The center of the hurricane is expected to be near the coast Monday night, according to the National Hurricane and it may strengthen a bit before weakening as it moves over land.

Officials are warning millions of people who live in areas that could see flooding. These areas include from South Carolina to Maine, where some are being warned to prepare and others like zone a, which includes City Island are being told to evacuate.

You should also prepare your refrigerator, fill a bathtub with water, make sure your car's tank is full of gas, as well as taking all critical steps.

Travel shutdowns in public transportation, including subways, buses, trains and mass transit systems are being shut down in various places as Sandy approaches.
