Killer Climate Change

Scientists point to the deadly Northwest heatwave as the climate change culprit and warn of more extreme heat as commonplace.

As climate change deniers show how dumb they are, the scientific community continues comparing the shocking temperatures in Oregon, Washington state, and British Columbia. Differentiating a forecast in Canada from a forecast in Phoenix is usually a breeze, but not this June.

All-time high-temperature records were smashed across the region. Portland International Airport broke its record of 41.7°C (107°F) by a whopping 5°C (9°F). The small town of Lytton set a new record high for the entire country of Canada at 49.6°C (121.3°F) on June 29. In the days that followed, most of the town burned in a wildfire.

The effects of climate change span the physical environment, ecosystems, and humanity. They also include the economic and social changes which stem from living in a warmer world. Manmade climate change is one of the threats to sustainability. Many physical impacts of climate change are already visible, including extreme weather events, glacier retreats, as well as changes in the timing of the seasons.

Climate change has an increasing effect on the greenhouse. Light, temperature, heat, CO2, and humidity all have their own effect on the production and photosynthesis of crops.

The hot summers of recent years are forcing many to face the facts. It is necessary to look at light and heat in the greenhouse from a different perspective. An analysis that shows the stress experienced by a crop provides the basis needed for this.
