Change is in the air at LIU- Expect a new name for the re-branded Long Island University POST. The public is invited to learn more about Long Island University this weekend when LIU hosts their annual open house for prospective students as well as their families.

This is a brilliant opportunity to obtain information about degree programs, academic enrollment, admissions, financial aid, scholarships, counseling services, career planning, cooperative education, student life, athletics, on-campus housing and student support services. Interested individuals may also take a guided tour of this gorgeous 56 year old campus and meet with faculty members, academic advisers and last but not least, the deans.

Following a 3 year intensive search, the 886 students at LIU School of Visual and Performing Arts Post finally have a new leader, and if all good things are worth waiting for, then these students can expect great results from Dean Noel Zahler.

Dr. Zahler says the university's short and long term goals include not only re-branding and a new logo, but updating all electronic and print media, like an improved View-book, Magazine re-designs, a thorough review of all services and course offerings to increase their profile and attract additional performance as well as visual arts students.

Zahler vowed to earn the trust and respect of students and staff members. He added that visibility is a huge issue pointing to LIU's facilities and the campus location as valuable assets. He wants to make sure that faculty and students also receive the credit they deserve for their hard work and research accomplishments.

Dean Zahler is a composer, a classical musician, who's work can be found on Itunes. He is sincere, warm and also happens to be a delightful addition to this diverse institution of higher learning.

On October 3, 2011, Dr. Zahler began the first day of the rest of his life, as well as his academic career. He was formerly affiliated with Connecticut College, the University of Minnesota and Carnegie Mellon University, where he founded interdisciplinary programs. City Island Images sat with him to mark his first month on the job. Zahler holds a Doctor of Music degree from Columbia University. He and his wife moved to Glen Cove from Pittsburgh, PA and says they're here to stay.

LIU is one of the largest and most comprehensive private universities in this great nation. The School of Visual and Performing Arts includes many performers, professional and academic researchers serving at the Departments of Art, Media, Music, Theater, Film, Dance & Arts Management.
