Living Remotely

Working remotely is nothing really new for me. As a social being who’s a multilingual communicator, a people person, and a serial connector, I know that human beings thrive on the milk of human kindness.

Growing up, I watched my parents who were both social workers practice social media for years before the Internet was in vogue. They kept consistently sending articles to friends and family through snail mail and letting folks know they were on their minds with a phone call or a greeting card.

It also surprises many people that I have run Imaginus Media http://imaginus.biz/ remotely for the last eight years. It is a communications consulting firm that also publishes multiple platforms and a daily blog #CityImages https://cimages.me/ #DONews https://arts.doseofnews.com/ #NewsHooks https://newshooks.com/

Our multilingual consultants focus on corporate responsibility and social impact but have never suffered from telecommuting, and as a result, we’ve built an incredibly collaborative, tight-knit team.

My suggestion is to reach out to family and friends for video dates. Facetime, WeChat, Zoom, Skype, Facebook, Whatsapp, and Google Hangouts, there’s really no shortage of platforms. You can even schedule virtual meal dates. One person can host, choose the topic, and share a recipe for the whole group to make. To expand the group, each person could be responsible for bringing one new person to each gathering.

Today, I am taking an Astronomy class, then joining a virtual happy hour with friends. We're each participating with our favorite beverage and our picks for the most riveting streaming on the Internet. Ideas are always welcome!
