The eighth bipartisan hearing on Trump’s GOP-sponsored US Capitol attack is tonight LIVE on CSPAN and many other USA networks.
Congress' January 6 Committee holds its eighth public hearing on the attack on the U.S. Capitol. It will reportedly focus on Trump’s actions and inactions before, during, and after the breach of the U.S. Capitol. The majority of Americans clearly want him locked up and his accomplices should flow him into prison.
The House select committee is investigating the insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, is returning to primetime today for its final planned hearing this month that will seek to show in minute-by-minute detail how former President Donald Trump failed to act while the attack was underway. Committee aides say that the panel will show how Trump "refused to act to defend the Capitol" for 187 minutes as the violent mob stormed the building. The committee has spoken with several former Trump aides who were with him that day -- including former White House counsel Pat Cipollone -- and their video depositions are expected to be used to help tell the story of what was going on inside the White House on January 6. The committee is also expected to show clips of video outtakes of Trump recording a message to his supporters on January 7, 2021, the day after the attack.
A big question for Jan. 6 committee: Did Trump aide Mark Meadows help stop – or fuel – the insurrection?
The infamous 187 minutes: What happened while Trump was out of public view
The January six committee is scheduled to wrap up its hearings for the summer on Thursday during prime time. After seven hearings outlining the machinations of former President Donald Trump, his aides, and staffers to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, the panel will focus on how Trump spent his time on Jan. 6, 2021. Reps. Elaine Luria, D-Va., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., will lead the hearing. Two ex-Trump aides who resigned due to the attack are expected to testify. Sarah Matthews, deputy press secretary, quit the day of the attack. Her statement said she was "honored" to serve in the Trump administration, but was "disturbed" by that day's events.
Meanwhile, Republicans are supporting “Stop the Steal” liars. GOP officials are still trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election, nearly two years after Joe Biden won the presidency. Aided by sympathetic judges nominated by the former guy, they have moved forward with policies threatening the integrity of the 2024 VOTE. This is to undermine democratic principles.
Will #DOJ decide to lock them all up today or wait a few more days until all the Trump T are crossed and the insurrectionist I are dotted?
