Kingsbridge Historical Society - “To Lose Our Heritage Is To Lose Our Destiny” -KHS Motto
The Kingsbridge Historical Society is pleased to announce that on Thursday, February 28th at 7:30 pm, Michael Miscione, the Manhattan Borough Historian, will present “People V. Boyd: The Murder Trial That Nearly Redrew The Map of New York City”.
In 1984, an otherwise unremarkable murder case generated a startling legal decision that threw the long-standing boundary of New York County into question. The ruling, which threatened to wreak havoc with New York City's criminal justice and electoral systems, sent state legislators scrambling and reignited an age-old border dispute between Manhattan and the Bronx.
Michael Miscione will describe the history of the disputed area and recount this little-known trial using vintage photographs and interviews of several of the principal players in the story.
The meeting is free and open to the public, and will be held at the St. Gabriel’s Community Hall, below the Rectory, located at West 235th Street and Arlington Avenue, Bronx NY.
Please ENTER the HALL from the parking area. Parking is also available on site, but please enter the lot from the 235th Street entrance.
