Making Friends

Submitted by ub on

Old friends, best friends, new friends, colleagues, acquaintances, pals, buddies, and the term no one really wants to be, a frenemy.

Friends are a strange, volatile, contradictory, yet sticky phenomenon. They are made, crafted, shaped, molded, created by focused effort and good intent. And yet, true friendship, once recognized, in its essence is effortless. Everyone is someone's friend, even when they think they are all alone.

However, gone are the days when we could meet a friend for a cup of coffee, tea, or a Margarita. Our days, and nights are now compromised to home cooked, takeout meals and a string of binging of streaming video and podcasts.

Those were the days, my friend when meeting folks wasn't difficult. Being naturally outgoing, making new connections was an easy task to accomplish. It was, for lack of a better analogy, as easy as taking a deep breath, but those can also be difficult, depending on our location.

Since we have adapted to do everything else online, why not make friends? See you Zoom, or would you rather Skype, Facetime, or Google Hangout? What is your preferred platform? Let me know, so we can have some fun and go on and on...etc.
