Miami Nice

Submitted by ub on

The City of Miami is where I went to college, eloped with my high school sweetheart, and where my gorgeous daughters were born.

This image shows Bayshore Drive, looking south from Flagler Street during the roaring 20s. The entrance to the new Dixie Pier is seen on the left.

Built back in 1923 it was situated just south of the Elser Pier at the foot of E. Flagler St. Many fishing boats and excursion vessels for trips into the bay and up the Miami River to the Everglades were docked at the Dixie Pier.

Finally, take a moment to notice that no one is double-parked and there were no meters back then, but no parking spaces to find.

Many things have changed since our family moved to South Florida and I relocated to Los Angeles, and then to New York City. My cousin is the Chief Judge in the Metro-Dade County Courts and another is Mayor of Miami. There are others, but that is enough for name-dropping at this time. Meanwhile back in the wild south.
