MY EARLY CREER

Submitted by ub on

Back in the day, I was a student volunteer photographer in Coconut Grove, Florida The Daily Planet was Miami’s Newspaper.

This is not to be confused with Clark Kent’s The Daily Planet which was a fictional newspaper appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Superman.

My first photo that made it fit to print was of an up-and-coming boxer who was working out at the 5th Street Gym in South Miami Beach. During the mid sixties, Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Nation of Islam, suggested a new name: Muhammad Ali. He changed his name from Cassius Clay and was forever known as Ali. This prize fighter went on to become a GOAT. The Daily Planet evolved into Miami's free press. : (Coconut Grove, Fla.) They never gave me a cape, nor a shirt with a big S.

From there I landed a non-paid student internship at print publication giants The Washington Post and Newsweek.

once I learned the ropes, I was ready to become a cub reporter for a Radio Station. From Gannet Radio I eventually jumped and accepted an offer to pay me twice as much and join NBC Radio’s The Source, and WNBC tV 4 where I hung on for nearly a decade until NABET called for a labor strike w hi lasted several months and I Happily accepted an offer For twice my salary at Univision.
