A National Lighthouse Museum close to Staten Island's St. George ferry terminal could brighten the eyes of many NYC lighthouse lovers as they hope there is light on the horizon.
Supporters are hoping for approval to begin museum operations on renovated city property, which was used as a Coast Guard depot near that ferry landing.
The group says it needs about a half million dollars for the museum facility and another half million for first-year operations. The have raised $180,000 so far. A decision by city's Economic Development Corp. to use one building at the former depot could come next month.
