Federal Communications Commissioners, following a 3-2 vote have prohibited Internet service providers like Comcast, Cablevision, Verizon Communications and others from discriminating against any web sites, or online service.

This basically signifies that sites like Netflix, or YouTube, Google will not have to pay additional fees, or deal with sluggish connections to their users.

New sites and services like DOSE OF NEWS * will be able to reach everyone on the Internet on the same terms as the biggies.

The FCC has chosen to categorize high-speed Internet service as another utility and a telecommunications service. Callers are guaranteed the right to dial any telephone number they like and the phone companies must treat every calls placed with equal status. Many telecommunications stocks dropped in value following today's ruling.
