POTUS IMPEACHED

Submitted by ub on

The US House of Representatives has impeached POTUS after 1063 day in office and following debates on articles against #POTUS #lDonaldTrump identified as Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress. But with a friend-lawyer like Rudy, who needs enemies?

The former Queens, NY resident was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives. He becomes the third president to be impeached in United States history and the first one from NYC.

He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but managed to blow it. So much for - “if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EUrUfJW1JGk

Trump joins The Losers of presidential history. Will the GOP be going down with him? Partisan differences were on full display during a day-long debate in which Democrats called Trump a threat to Democracy and Republicans called the proceedings a sham.

As the U.S. House marched toward historic nighttime votes to impeach POTUS, split as severely as the nation over the conduct of the 45th American president but approved the charges against him and sent them to the Senate for trial.

Following the politically charged debates, the final votes HR Resolution #755 were counted on the two articles of impeachment, with 216 YES votes needed.

Abuse of Power (Y) 230 - (N) 197 Obstruction of Congress (Y) 229 - (N) 198

In 2020 Senators will hold a trial on whether to remove #Trump from office. The GIP controls it and a 2/3 majority is required to convict him, which means 20 Republicans would be needed.

Since the US Senate is controlled by Republicans, and Moscow Mitch has shown little sign he will be found guilty we have to wait and see. A majority of those present in the 100-member chamber will need to convict Trump.

As SCOTUS Chief Justice John Roberts presides over the trial. House managers will present their case, and the president’s legal team would respond. Senators would act as jurors. A trial could involve testimony from witnesses six days a week for as long as six weeks.

I was a student intern working in a Washington Post newsroom during Watergate, then I produced MSNBC #TV #CableNews during President Bill Clinton #impeachment. What I see now with Donald J. Trump is far worse for #Democracy and USAGov
