Prayers On A Beach

Submitted by ub on

Just as Pastors Susan Chadwick, Ezra Yew have done in previous years, Reverend David Jolly led the gathered congregation of Trinity United Methodist Church on City Island for Sunday prayers on a beach. And as the casual tradition, this Reverend wore Bermuda shorts. However, the previous pastors who are also locals did not attend.

On this tenth Sunday after Pentecost, the group listened to Epistle, Gospel, and a children's sermon, then sang Elenore Farjeon's composition Morning Has Broken

The United Methodist Church foundation of basic social principles “believes God’s love for the world is an active and engaged love, a love seeking justice and liberty.

To care enough about people’s lives to risk interpreting God’s love, to take a stand, to call each of us into a response, no matter how controversial or complex.

The church helps us think and act out a faith perspective, not just responding to all the other ‘mind-makers-up’ that exist in our society”
