Prepare For Freezing Air

Submitted by ub on

Folks living in the Midwest and Eastern US should expect to get a blast of freezing winds over the next few days, as cold Arctic air plunges southward into the northern and central Plains.

Howling air is expected to drop the wind chill factor to a numbing 25 degrees below zero in some parts of the northern Plains.

The cold will then blow eastwardly into Thursday, sending temperatures plummeting by some 30 degrees.

A cold front will sweep through the East and South over the next few days to deliver a taste of Winter. Initially rain is expected across the two regions, before a mix of mainly snow develops and expands behind.

Some snow accumulations are possible from Texas to the Northeast. Also, well below average temperatures are likely in the Upper Midwest through Thursday.
