Raquel Welch’s celebrity in the 1970s was colossal and it’s a pity that no filmmaker could quite bring it out of her sex appeal.

 She first burst on the scene in 1966 looking like a million bucks in the film One Million Years B.C. Jo Raquel Welch was an American actress. She first won attention for her role in Fantastic Voyage, after which she won a contract with 20th Century Fox. They lent her contract to the British studio Hammer Film Productions, for whom she made One Million Years B.C.

These included that combination of drollery and brassy physical strength that could well have produced a tremendous comedy. But she was an icon: a sexy warrior who was more than a match for humans or dinosaurs.
