Raul Malo, the charismatic frontman of The Mavericks. He has died of Cancer at the age of 60. Malo passed away on the night of December 8, 2025, after a courageous and much-documented struggle with the disease that spanned more than a year.
While I was living in South Florida, my best pal introduced me to a Cuban-American named Raul Mao and The Mavericks.
Malo means bad in Spanish, but it was only good vibes and happy sounds that night. Thank you, Myra Wennig, you're one in a million.
