A fleet of nine Navy and Coast Guard ships has arrived on the West Side of New York City.
A Parade of Ships includes USS Iwo Jima, Kauffman, Carr, John L. Hall, New York, USCG Katherine Walker, Tampa, Willow and Reliance. The ships sailed up the Hudson River, under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to the George Washington Bridge, then turned around to dock in Manhattan and Staten Island.
Sailors stand on deck as the warship USS New York passes the Statue of Liberty to kick off Fleet Week, which
runs through June 1. NYC officials say there will be military demonstrations and displays throughout the week as well as public visitation of the various participating ships.
