if the gun were really intelligent, it would be smart enough to know not to fire anywhere anytime or ever at all. 

Over ten years ago 007 James Bond was issued with a futuristic biometric "smart gun" that could only be fired by its owner. But now the hi-tech weapons could finally become widely available in the United States.

But is it an oxymoron a figure of speech in which two apparently contradictory terms appear together. Examples include a deafening silence, harmonious discord, an open secret, and the living dead.
