Live theatre is finally returning to NYC stages, and the lights will shine bright on Broadway, as shows will resume on Sept. 14.
The coronavirus pandemic forced them all to close on March 12, 2020, and are now finally reopening.
Broadway was unfortunately forced to shutter over one year ago because of the #COVID pandemic. This welcome move comes after New York City lifted capacity restrictions on arts venues and restaurants, but they're still maybe some limit on attendance to ensure social distancing. The venues with 500 seats are located in the Theater District and the Lincoln Center along Broadway, in Midtown Manhattan. The 41 theaters, drew 14.6 million people who spent $1.8 billion on tickets in 2019 and attracting vibrant New York City visitors.
The tickets are expected to sell quickly for many shows that will be at 100 percent capacity, according to New York Governor Cuomo, and additional seating limits will be addressed in future months.
The Broadway League has announced that preparations are underway, and times and dates for specific plays as well as their reopening sites are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
