Hundreds of volunteers - including a half dozen NY Marathon runners have supported the hurricane clean-up effort at Pelham Bay Park this weekend. Work has been done near the Nature Center, picnic area and southern end of Orchard Beach. Volunteers responded to online appeals for help posted by the Parks Dept., NYC Service and Friends of Pelham Bay Park.
Volunteers filled four dumpsters with the black bags into which they placed the storm debris. Please consider donating even two hours. They will continue to work at the northern end of Orchard Beach. Thirteen full-time workers cannot possibly re-mediate the storm damage at NYC's largest park consisting of 2766 acres & 13 miles of shoreline.
