This is the anniversary of a tragic story, which ended many years later with a much worse tragedy. Back in 1993, 19 years ago. the World Trade Center bombing occurred on February 26, 1993, when a truck bomb was detonated below the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.

The 1,336 lb nitrate–hydrogen gas enhanced device was designed, planted and intended to knock Tower One into Tower Two, bringing both edifices down and thereby killing thousands of innocent individuals. Although it failed to do so, it should have been a wake up call. As a result, six persons we killed and more than an thousand injured. This horrific first attack was planned by a group religious fanatics and criminal conspirators.

These criminals received financing from Khaled Sheikh Mohammed. In March 1994, four men were convicted of carrying out the bombing: Abouhalima, Ajaj, Ayyad and Salameh. The charges included conspiracy, explosive destruction of property and interstate transportation of explosives. In November 1997, two more were convicted: Yousef, the mastermind behind the bombings, and Eyad Ismoil, who drove the truck carrying the bomb.

These horrible crimes against humanity were completed on September 11, 2001.
