Electric Light Orchestra

Electric Light Orchestra is one of those bands which have been around for over 50 years but none gives them enough credit.

The Electric Light Orchestra is an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970 by songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood with drummer Bev Bevan. Their music is characterized by a fusion of pop, classical arrangements, and futuristic iconography.

ELO's leader Jeff Lynne reportedly isn’t one for obtuse, impenetrable songwriting. Although artfully presented and wonderfully poetic, songs like ‘Telephone Line’, ‘Can’t Get It Out of My Head’, and ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ was about as cosmic as Lynne got, and he wasn’t above a good old-fashioned sex romp like ‘Do Ya’ or ‘Sweet Talkin’ Woman’. But one mystery has persisted throughout the career of the Electric Light Orchestra: what the hell is Lynne saying in ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9nkzaOPP6g

When the late John Lennon said he loved Electric Light Orchestra’s forgotten classics. ELO made no attempt to conceal their raison d’etre: to “pick up where The Beatles left off.” And, according to Lennon, he named them “son of The Beatles.

Did you know that Lynne was one of the chosen ones good enough to become one of the Traveling Wilburys?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xZGpI7RQuQ

This is one of my favorite songs because I know a few people who fit the bill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxz1DuVaRr8
