While referring to someone as a fruitcake, it really means that they are crazy or that their behavior is very strange.
When the "migrant caravan" of the 19th century consisted of the indigenous inhabitants of this country - as they suffered forced displacement and relocation - forced to march westward after the U.S. government coerced treaties and used the U.S. Army against those resisting - many were treated brutally.
An estimated 3,500 Creeks died in Alabama and on their westward journey which has been memorialized for all posterity as the "Trail of Tears".
Governor Ron DeSanctimonious R-(FL), would love to whitewash and re-write this history - as the reality of the brutality involved to do such a dastardly thing might hurt the self-esteem of the children growing up in the Sunshine State.
MAGA Republicans and people who watch the Fox "Entertainment News" Network wouldn't have cared about these people then or their plight:
to live free, to breathe air that is free - to be free from hurt, harm or danger to their people.
Just as members of MAGA and the Republican Party could care less about those who've been pushed from their homes today from Central and South America.
Former President Trump’s political team reviewed polling from congressional districts that were competitive in the 2016 election. They showed that border protection, safeguarding immigration officers and standing up to illegal immigration resonated with voters there, according to a person with knowledge of the president’s strategy.
Trump seized on the issues as winners for Republicans attempting to preserve their congressional majority.
Trump has since found the perfect opening with a migrant caravan snaking up through Central America toward the U.S. border — and hitting his favorite FOX cable news TV shows and has been talking and tweeting nonstop about the caravan, hoping his strategy will pay off before Election Day.
The Democrats proposed a conservative immigration bill that Trump specifically directed Republican Congressional "Leadership" to "nix" -
because he wanted to use the issue as a "battering ram" vs. actually working to address the "Trumped up", Republican made "crisis" at the border.
Maybe Trump could convince Texas Governor Greg Abbot (R) -
just like Chief Ironside to defend the area by patrolling the Tex-Mex border himself ... back and forth?
I've often heard that the best offense is a good defense.
The fact of the matter is Trump and his Republican "decisive enablers" ...
lack any empathy, Christian charity or the requisite Christian heart to understand that economic insecurity, political upheaval, violence, and climate change are driving tens of millions of people from their home countries, as indicated from World Bank experts.
Even though Evangelicals claim to be so "pious".
Paul tells us in his letter to the Galatians that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
When was the last time you observed a Republican acting in a manner that is in line with the fruits of the spirit? Never!
